Being a Formula One fan often involves a lot of effort. It requires lots of staying up late and getting up early to watch races in different time zones, and the sport doesn't usually get a lot of coverage on the mainstream news channels.
F1 Mobile Lite is designed to help you stay on top of the 2009 race season from your iPhone. The application serves up all the latest news, as well as offering updates on the standings in the drivers and constructors championships after every race, and offering you a full race calendar.
Getting around F1 Mobile Lite is very easy, and navigation is done by tapping one of the three icons at the foot of the screen. Click the News button and a feed of the latest headlines from PlanetF1.com will be displayed. You can simply click on a headline to go to the article. The best thing is, the web page will load within the F1 Mobile Lite interface, rather than launching the iPhone web browser and thus kicking you out of the app.
The Standings and Calendar sections in F1 Mobile Lite are very sparse. In fact, it's probably worth upgrading to the full version of the app, because this gives you more race information (including locations in Google Maps), along with a choice of five news providers, and driver and team information.
Essentially this lite version of F1 Mobile is merely a portal to PlanetF1, with a few stats tacked on. However, it's been nicely implemented and is a good way of keeping your finger on the pulse of F1.
